Custom Kernel Building….Yuck!
Well, I decided to solve some of my new issues with my Media Center, I would build a custom kernel so it loaded the modules that I needed to use. So, I wrote up a quick page on how to build and compile a custom kernel, which can be found here. Though, my test failed, primarily due to me screwing up the grub menu.lst file, but I won't go into detail on how I did that. Once I fixed it though, my problem were still present and so I need to go back to square one to solve them.
This really sucks, as now I have to go through the whole Debian install again. You would think I could devise a way to do this without having to constantly go through this install process, but nope, too lazy at the moment to ghost a SCSI drive on another SCSI drive. Not to mention, why should I customize my kernel when I can make the Debian installer pretty much do it for me, so long as I have the hardware in there.
