Officially a Search-This Author

Today I was officially announced as an author at Search-This. I am completely psyched! I knew this was happening as I have been working on my first article/post all week (more like one day, but still, I had to proof read it a few times). Make sure you read my bio, you might find out something new and interesting about me.

The article I am writing is “OOP in PHP from a .NET OOP Perspective.” Primarily it is my findings on writing an OOP application in PHP after learning C# in .NET. I think many will find it useful and hopefully it will spark some comments that will lead to future articles for me to write. Anyways, stop reading my blabbing and get going to Search-This and start to read up!

Hard Drive Failure.

Today I found out one of my media center hard drives decided to die. My media center has been acting strange all week but today was the first evening I was actually able to investigate the problem.

After pulling off the side of my case to first figure out what the popping noise was I heard late Monday evening, I really didn’t see anything unusual. I then proceeded to investigate the hard drives since two of them disappeared off my computers radar. Upon investigating and through many tests, I discovered my secondary slave drive (a 120 GB Hitachi Deskstar 7200 RPM P/N 07N9549) died. This sucked! I had a dozen DVDs on that drive in ISO format so I could just quickly play any of them without putting in an actual DVD Disc.

So without any doubt I will be looking for a hard drive to replace my dead one plus a few new fans, as some of them are getting really loud and are annoying the crap out of me.

Talk about accomplishing a lot…

cpCommerce
I am not sure what put me in such a great mood Friday evening, but Friday evening I completed 10 known bugs in cpCommerce plus added a new feature. Then to top it off further, I modified my shell script that builds the SVN repository every Sunday morning so it would also build a “diff.patch” file describing the difference between the previous version and the newer version. Then on Sunday it was discovered that a bug dealing with the “discount” feature existed in always providing every customer with a 20% discount on their purchase. Within a few hours, that was fixed and the release file was rebuilt manually so everyone could download the new ZIP file.

kiosk
I also accomplished a lot in kiosk over the weekend too. Finalized some of the installation processes, and started working heavily on the modules in the Administration Control Panel. I also refined major parts of the framework to fit better with the overall goal of being a “plug-n-play template system.”

Linux
Finally, I have been spending my weekend trying to get my media center PC up and running again after a Ubuntu upgrade. Not sure what caused the FREAKIN’ issue, but I am not very appreciative about it. Overall, this is the first day I have tried to fix it since I discovered it being down on Saturday morning, so it might not really be a “major” issue.
