Swimming, Gift Registry, and Phone Calls

Today Kami and I went swimming for nearly an hour when it started to rain and thunder so we went inside and talked with her Grandma for a little while. As we were talking Kami noticed she was watching MASH. I love that program!

Finally, when the rain had ceased long enough for us to leave and run home, we got into the car and headed back to Findlay from North Baltimore. On the way home it started to pour down again, so much that we had a hard time seeing the road ahead. And if the rain wasn’t bad enough, there were cars driving on the highway with their LIGHTS OFF! What kind of moron do you have to be to drive on a highway, going anywhere from 40-65 miles per hour with very limited vision and you have your FREAKIN’ LIGHTS OFF?

On our way home we stopped at Kroger to get a few needed items and then we went to my place and made pizzas and french fries (which has become a weekly ritual for the two of us). After we ate pizzas, I finished fixing my computer’s hard drive and began working on bettering my backup system to make the recovery process easier to handle. I think I finally got a system that will make it as easy as running a shell script now.

Following my computer playing, Kami and I sat down and worked on our Wedding Registry so we can get the long-process items out of the way and focus more on the rest of the wedding. We pretty much have everything figured out, such as, the location, reception, colors, dress, rings, etc.

Around 11:00 PM we decided to call it quits, as I have to be in Van Wert by 9:30 AM and Kami has to be at work by 9:00 AM. We both need our sleep and I have a long drive ahead in the morning.

Apartment Hunting and Computer Malfunctions

Okay, today was an interesting day. I did nothing but search for apartments all day and I found nothing. Most of the apartments I later called about I make too much money to live in!

I searched in Lima and I must say, a few of them were nice, but quite small and I am primarily looking for a 2 Bedroom apartment. When I got home, I did a bit more searching and then my computer’s hard drive got corrupted when using OpenOffice. I know! I am shocked myself! I have used OpenOffice millions of times without any problems and all of a sudden I work with a Defined Range in Excel/Calc and it screws up my hard drive.

To test it, I did the same thing on my laptop and that hard drive became corrupt too! Luckily fsck was able to solve the problem with a little bit of work and I was back up and running on my laptop. Unfortunately, I had already screwed up the desktop hard drive overly to be able to fix it that way.

Then in the evening Kami and I drove out to Lima again, to pick up a list of condos that are for rent/sale that are 2 bedrooms. While we were out there we ate at Texas Roadhouse and the dinner was excellent as usual.

Wilkin Reunion: Day 2

At 7:00 AM we woke up everyone so we all could get around and leave for Patrick and Amy’s for Day 2. I woke up, took a shower, and immediately afterwards became entirely light headed — so much so, I felt like I would faint. Day 2 started out with a big breakfast. We had a ton of fruit, sausage, potatos, and cheese, and of course OJ, Coffee, and other juices to drink.

During breakfast we chatted over times in the past, including embarrassing moments (after all what is a reunion without embarrassing moments) and we all had a good laugh. Following breakfast I was feeling much better, but entirely wiped out and ready for another nap. This time I slept on Kami’s shoulder as one of Patrick’s and Amy’s children was showing Kami their wedding album. I dozed in and out and lone and behold it became lunch time! (It’s amazing how I can sleep till the next food round :-P)

Lunch was leftovers from the previous night and it was good as usual. After lunch we headed back to Findlay only stopping once so that the “women” could have a bathroom break. Grandpa and I, picked up a few sodas from the vending machines to reboost our energy levels.

When we got home, I quickly unpacked the car, and then made a few phone calls declining interviews. Kami and I then left to her house, so we could see her siblings and so I could then look at the surrounding city newspapers and look for more apartments to move into. I was able to schedule two more viewings this week and I hope many of the others will return my phone calls tomorrow.

Following my phone calls, I played basketball with her siblings and right at the end, I ended up taking a fall and cut the majority of my knuckles on my foot — as I was playing in sandals. I also scrapped up my elbos and majorily hurt my knee as it landed right on the corner of the concrete. In my fall, I also happened to get a few grass stains on a white t-shirt, but after a wash, they came out entirely and so I am happy about that.

Kami then took me home and I got a few more things done around my apartment and she left as she has to be up at 7:00 AM. Oh, and before I forget to mention it, the wedding day has been set and is on March 04, 2006. I hope to see you all there!
