The Negativity Continues…

Yet another family member is upset with me again. This time its my Mom’s parents. They absolutely refuse to attend the wedding as they do not want to come back to Findlay on that weekend even after we offered to fly them in.

Mentally, I cannot take much more of this. I am literally at a breaking point ready to go psychotic. Why on earth is everyone set against this weekend when NO ONE HAS ANYTHING FILLING IT UP! The weekend is entirely free for everyone and they are MAD AT ME!!! They want their convenience to be a determining factor on when Kami and I get married!!! How in the world does that make any sense?

Why do they get to decide when Kami and I wish to celebrate our wedding anniversary? Why do they get to say, “Sorry, we do not have anything planned on that weekend, but it is inconvenient for us”? Why do they constantly try to control everything regarding my life? Why can’t they just let go? Why is it that no matter what accomplishments I make, they always walk on the negative side of things or assume negative thoughts? In all honesty, I am finding it hard to invite my family. Sad isn’t it?

I am not changing the date, I will not give in to their whining and whimpering, and I will offer to fly up my Mom’s parents once more in a few months. If they say ‘No’, well TOO BAD. I will not ensure that the ceremony is video taped for them, as it was their decision to not be a part of it! My family sucks (this is my ranting and I probably do not fully belive it, but at this point I am feeling it)!

Wedding Dress Try-Outs

Today, Kami and I ran to Toledo to drop off her sweeper (since it was under warranty) and to take her to David’s Bridal so she could try on the wedding dress she picked out on their website. So we ran to Toledo around 1:30 PM. We found the Vaccum Cleaner place without any problems, finding David’s Bridal on the other hand was hard.

We followed the directions given to us from their website exactly, only to find out the last instruction was wrong. Instead of turning right on Monroe St. we needed to turn left. Once we found the place, a representative there, found the wedding dress (that was two sizes larger than what Kami takes) and so she tried it on. Everything looked nice except for a small defect which probably wouldn’t exist in Kami’s correct size, but we didn’t have the time to try it on today.

So when we got back to Findlay, we stopped at Kami’s house to 1) look at all the kitch supplies she already has, and 2) pick up my Playstation 2. We then headed to my place to have Pizza and watch the movie Patch Adams. Following the movie we continued our Gift Registry at Home Depot (after all, we will need power tools) and found it to be quite boring — so we called it quits and decided it was time for bed.

Is Anyone There?

Okay, today, I ran to Van Wert to look at a 2 Bedroom duplex and then to Lima to look at Mt. Vernon Apartments. I got to the duplex and it was some-what nice. A little old fashion (but what isn’t in Van Wert :-P), however, it looked clean and well kept. The main downfall of it was no washer or dryer hookup and the second bedroom was out of AC reach — which means unhabitable in my case.

After, I looked at the duplex, I headed for Mt Vernon Apartments to see if I could take a look at any of their two bedrooms or even a three bedroom. Unfortunately, when I got there the Property Manager was on vacation and had no one there to show me any rooms!! Talk about a poor business strategy. The property manager comes back on Sunday and so I hope she gets my voice mails and gives me an immediate call. I really need a place to move into ASAP that is clean, two bedrooms with 1 or 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, and washer/dryer hookup would be nice.

When I got back to Findlay, my grandparents asked if I wanted to go out to lunch and so we went to Taco Bell. Well, I didn’t think much of them asking me to go out to eat, but I quickly understood why later. They asked me to go out to eat so they could rant and downsize me regarding Kami and I’s wedding. Pretty much, they were upset because my Mom is upset. To make a long story short…ah forget it, I will just explain the whole thing.

Kami and I were looking at dates to decide what weekend would be best for our wedding. We checked out people’s Spring Break schedules and found out all of them were different, so someone would get hurt no matter what. Therefore, we choose March 4th, 2006. When my Mom got earshot of this she practically went ballistic because that meant my brother, Andrew, could not make it.

This is entirely misleading and is based on assumptions that are yet to be proven factual. The first assumption this is based on is that he will have weekend classes in the Spring 2006 semester. The second issue is my Mom is being hypocritical and is refusing to allow him to skip classes when she KNOWINGLY made me skip classes to visit them in Thanksgiving and Christmas! — I am sorry, but that is a definite situation of hypocrisy.

The second reason my Mom was upset is she felt her parents would not come back from Florida that early in the year. WELL TOO BAD! From my understanding, it is up to the Bride and Groom to choose the wedding date. Everyone has that weekend free, but wishes for a “more convenient date”. I am even willing to offer to fly them up for the wedding and fly them back down to Florida afterwards (immediately after the wedding — as why bother letting them enjoy the reception when they obviously didn’t care enough to come up for the event). This way, they can stay in Florida until they are good and ready.

Following my remarks my grandmother showed her lack of vocabulary by stating: “I don’t think your mom is being hypocritical.” HELLO!! Did you not listen to me? She then went on to say a “wedding is not a wedding unless there are bridemaids and groomsmen.” That is bologna (sing the Oscar Mayer song)! The two parts that make up a wedding are as follows: 1) A bride, groom, and two witnesses and 2) an ordained paster/preist/person. Hence, how eloping works!

The only thing my grandfather did was stand up for Kami and I regarding the wedding, and then he made me mad by making the comment: “Are you sure you can handle the job?” WTF?!? I honestly think the company wouldn’t have hired me, if they felt I wasn’t capable! I am sure I would not have accepted the offer, if I felt uncapable! Why is it that everyone has to question this accomplishment of mine!!! What did I do to deserve this questioning or to warrant it?

I was ticked off after all of this, so I refused to talk to either of them for the rest of the time I had to see them. What made things worse, was I had agreed to eat dinner with them too earlier before this fiasco happened! So in the afternoon, I called up Kami as hearing her voice tends to fix all of my problems, and so I explained everything to her. This of course made her mad too.

Come dinner time, neither of us were looking forward to it, due to the prior conversation, and so after dinner we then went to my apartment. We started to work on our Gift Registry and I said I didn’t want to stay in the house and rather just go to her house. So we left and I then shot hoops at her place to relieve stress and man did it ever work. I was stress free after a few hours of shooting basketballs and running down my energy.

I then eventually made my way inside and sat at the kitchen counter, and Kami was working on the invitation list. When her Dad entered the kitchen, she quickly asked him who she should invite on his side of the family and I about blew up right there! We had decided a long time ago that we were planning the wedding and only inviting those who were close to us — those who we wanted to be there. Why on earth would you go and ask your Dad? His response about made me blow up at him as well. He stated “Invite them all, though you know many of them won’t come, but at least they will send gifts!” ASS! When on earth has Kami or I shown direct sight on material objects — NEVER! We can careless, which unfortunately, does not hold true for her Dad.

Then somehow the conversation of Kami having more family members being invited than I came up and he made the remark: “Well, he knew our family was big before you two got engaged didn’t he?” First off, my family is just as large, they just choose to go out and see the world instead of living in and around Findlay all they life! At least my family goes out and experiences life instead of just sitting home doing nothing. Secondly, that is hardly the point. The length we go down on Kami’s side fo the family tree, needs to be the same on the Wilkin side. However, if we stick to our original plan to begin with, this issue wouldn’t exist as we have only immediate family invited!

And thus that is how my “wonderful” day went (did you catch the sarcasm?).
